Arrival in Dar es Salaam
A LuiTours representative meets you at Julius Nyerere International Airport and provides a private transfer to the hotel. The remainder of the day is free for rest after the international journey and a briefing on the flight and boat arrangements ahead.
Fly to Kigoma and Explore the Lake Town
Transfer to the domestic terminal after breakfast and fly to Kigoma. After hotel check-in, explore the local market, port and historical museum with a guide. The visit provides useful context for Kigoma’s role as the gateway to Lake Tanganyika and western Tanzania.
Boat to Gombe and First Chimpanzee Trek
Board the boat for the journey north along Lake Tanganyika to Gombe Stream National Park. Settle into the special tents and have lunch before meeting the park ranger for the first chimpanzee trek. The afternoon route follows current forest signs and may also reveal other primates and birdlife.
Second Gombe Chimpanzee Trek and Lakeshore Afternoon
Return to the forest early for another ranger-led search, giving the trackers a second opportunity to locate the chimpanzees in a different part of their range. After the trek, the afternoon is kept open for the beach, birdwatching or swimming where local safety advice permits.
Boat from Gombe to Kigoma
Enjoy a relaxed breakfast and final views of Gombe’s forested shoreline. Later, take the boat back across Lake Tanganyika to Kigoma, where a vehicle meets you for the transfer to the hotel. The rest of the evening is at leisure.
Fly from Kigoma to Dar es Salaam
Transfer to Kigoma Airport and take the scheduled flight back to Dar es Salaam. A private driver meets the arrival and takes you to the city hotel. Use the evening to rest or arrange a local dinner, depending on flight timing.
International Departure
After breakfast, transfer to Julius Nyerere International Airport at a time matched to your onward flight. This completes the return journey from Gombe’s forest and Lake Tanganyika to Tanzania’s coast.
