Nyerere National Park, formerly known as Selous Game Reserve, is Africa’s largest and oldest game reserve. The beauty of the park is matched by the quality of a safari and the diverse activities in the park. Nyerere Park covers 50,000 square km and is among the largest protected areas in Africa. Relatively undisturbed by humans, Nyerere National Park is rich in elephant, cheetah, giraffe, hippo and crocodile, as well as many other species.
A strong southern Tanzania fly-in safari from Zanzibar with a different atmosphere from the northern circuit and excellent variety in only three days.
Daily Itinerary
Game Drive + Boat Trip to Rufiji River
You'll take a flight from Zanzibar to Nyerere National Park for 30 minutes. After arriving, experience a warm game drive in the park where you'll observe the peculiar nature of Nyerere National Park with a variety of animals including lion, elephant, giraffe, buffalo, zebra, and all the other major species including the now rare African hunting dog. Enjoy your hot lunch in the mid-noon then advance to a game drive until 4:00 pm when you will go for a boat safari.
Enjoy a boat tour along the great Rufiji River in the Southern circuit and observe a variety of hippos, crocodiles, waterbuck, and the prosperous scenery of the Nyerere National Park.
Dinner and your overnight stay will be offered at the Selous Safari Lodge
Nyerere Game Drive.
After breakfast, we will leave the lodge with packed lunches to enjoy a game drive in the Nyerere National Park. You can expect to see large numbers of animals like lions, elephants, giraffes, buffalos, zebras, and hyenas. You will also see a large variety of birds and wonderful scenery with varied topography, including wetlands, dry grassland, light acacia forests, and higher ground with vast views of far-off mountains.
You will enjoy your lunch and rest in the afternoon before proceeding with the game drive. Your overnight stay is at Selous Safari Lodge.
Nyerere Game Drive Then Flight to Zanzibar
After breakfast in the morning enjoy game drive by modified safari vehicle with a professional guide, Great animals’ sightings including all the great favorites lion, elephant, giraffe, buffalo, zebra and all the other major species including the now rare African hunting dog. You will also see a large variety of birds, wonderful scenery with varied topography including wetland, dry grassland, light acacia forest and higher ground with vast views of far-off mountains, in the afternoon packed lunch then continue with game drive until 2:00 pm. Then get back to your room at Selous Safari Lodge and pack your bag ready for flying. Your flight will be ready at 4:00 pm to Zanzibar.
